VALLEY VISTA

The Valley Vista Residence is a new, modern structure located on a hillside lot in the San Fernando Valley. The owners desired a serene oasis that complemented the clean lines of the house, where the family could retreat from the bustle of city life. A complimentary material palette of colored concrete, gravel, exposed aggregate paving, burnished concrete block and wood are used to add visual interest while maintaining an overall calmness.

The back yard has been terraced to incorporate a swimming pool and spa, and a water feature wraps a corner of the house to serve as the pivot point between upper and lower terraces, and different use areas of the landscape. A fireplace anchors the other corner of the yard and provides a place to stretch out next to the fire. California Native plants such as Salvia, Ceanothus, and Sedge were used to bring wildlife close to the house.
