SANTA CLARA
In Venice is a contemporary duplex owned by a scholar of East Indian Arts. The owner wished to create separate, private outdoor spaces for an adjoining unit. A new entry sequence was created for the owner’s unit by utilizing custom shade trellises. The shade trellises provide screening from adjacent neighbors and the tenant’s unit as well as frame views of the new entry plantings.
A new wood deck at the rear of the owner’s unit connects the indoor Living Room/Kitchen to a new outdoor living space. A fire pit and built-in display area for the owner’s Indian artwork collection create a warm environment for entertaining and relaxation.
The saffron colored walls of the building are complimented by a drought tolerant planting palette of rich burgundies and varied shades of green.
