RIALTO

For the Rialto Residence near the beach in Venice, the owner wanted to capture the spirit of the

Windswept coast of Big Sur.  Sculptural Black Pines anchor opposing corners of the landscape and provide an organic counterpoint to the clean lines of the architecture.  Olive trees create a soft envelope of foliage that embraces the living space as it transitions from indoors to outdoors while at the same time screening the street. 

Custom stainless steel planters and stump stables bring life and texture to the roof deck, complimenting the custom fire pit used to warm the cool coastal evenings.  A lone Olive recalls the ground floor planting, while the feathery texture of Restios capture movement from the wind.
